Christopher Reeve 1:6 boots

The boots were a real challenge... My question (and worry) from the beginning was whether or not to do them as sewn elements or sculpt and cast them. After weighing the pros and cons and looking at the DC Direct figures (a classic Superman and the Superman Returns 13 inchers.. Thanks for getting them down for me to look at, Butch!) I decided to sculpt them. My reasoning was that the sewn scale would have left larger seamlines than would have looked good. Sculpting the boots, they can be scaled to any size while keeping the look of the real screen counterparts. The finished castings were epoxied onto the calf stumps permanently, which presented some very stressful moments!
